2013 Skoll Awards for Social Entrepreneurship

The Skoll Foundation presents the Skoll Awards for Social Entrepreneurship each year to select a few organisations who are solving the world's most pressing problems. The Skoll Award includes a core support grant to the organisation to be paid over three years, and a non-cash award to the social entrepreneur presented at the Skoll World Forum on Social Entrepreneurship each spring. 

The application process for the 2013 Skoll Awards is open upto March 1st 2012.

ONE Africa Award

The ONE Africa Award celebrates progress toward achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.

ONE will recognize the Africa- driven, African led advocacy efforts that have demonstrated success at a community, national, or regional level. The $100,000 award will bring recognition to innovative African efforts to fight poverty and will incentivize more of such efforts (The award may be split into two prizes in order to award two smaller organizations better able to absorb a smaller monetary award.)

Anzisha Prize to Celebrate Innovative Young African Entrepreneurs

The African Leadership Academy and The MasterCard Foundation have launched the Anzisha Prize, a premier award for Africa’s young entrepreneurial leaders.

This annual prize – the first of its kind for youth in Africa – seeks to celebrate young innovators, ages 15 to 20, who have developed and implemented innovative solutions to challenges facing their communities.

African Achievers Award International 2010

The African Achiever Awards aims to reward excellence among Africans on the continent and Africans in the Diaspora. The excellence displayed by Africans, no doubt, enhances the positive image of Africa and Africans.

Criterion

The criterion for African Achiever Award, broadly speaking, is to have contributed to the enhancement of the positive image of Africa and Africans in any part of the world. As simple as the criterion sounds, there are numerous people who satisfy this criterion which means that the best of Africa’s Best are matched against each other to produce a high quality list of African Achiever Awards Award recipients. The African Achiever Award is highly prestigious and highly coveted.

Eligibility

Submissions are welcome from any institution based in UK and Africa including corporate headquarters or branch offices of international institutions.

Entrants may submit for multiple awards. However, the shortlist for the following categories will be decided by an independent editorial board.

You can nominate yourself for an award or be nominated by someone else.

The awards celebrate African people who have:

• Shown innovation or creativity in their volunteering
• Demonstrated leadership in creating and developing projects
• Used their energy, commitment and enthusiasm to raise awareness
• Created something worth replicating elsewhere and inspired others
• Demonstrated a willingness to develop their talents into new areas
