2011 Ink Fellows Program

THE INK CONFERENCE, in associated with TED, is an annual conference that aims to fuel innovation and foster knowledge by bringing together the world's most fascinating thinkers and doers from a range of disciplines such as art, design, science, social entrepreneurship, sports and technology.

INK 2010 featured Speakers such as science educator and innovator Arvind Gupta, filmmaker James Cameron, founder of Wired magazine Kevin Kelly, design guru Philippe Starck, and anti-trafficking activist Sunitha Krishnan.

THE INK FELLOWS PROGRAM will recruit 20 young innovators to attend the INK 2011 Conference in Jaipur, India, December 8th – 11th, 2011.

Call For Papers: 2010 National Youth Conversation Conference on Peace, Reforms and Youth Economic Empowerment, 12th-16th Oct 2010

Kenya Youth Parliament, the organizers of the 2010 National Youth Conversation; Conference on Peace, Reforms & Youth Economic Empowerment in Nairobi, Kenya from Oct 12th to 16th, 2010 invites you to participate in the oncoming largest gathering that brings together social activists, peace builders and  youth leaders in the pursuit and defining of a Better Kenya.

This conference brings together only four (4) participants from every constituency as a ‘Call to Action’ to assist young people ‘learn’ and ‘understand’ their roles in Building a Peaceful Kenya and provide them with tools, information and ideas of participating and influencing the Reforms Agenda at the grassroots levels.

This will be achieved through the design of Individual Action Plans (IAP’s) to be implemented at grassroots level and coordinated Constituency Actions Plans (CCAP’s) to be coordinated by Kenya Youth Parliament and its partners.

This conference is a follow-up of activities being ran under the aegis of the Youth Platform for Change “YP4C” namely the National Youth Conversation Café’s in the grassroots areas, the Koffi Annan Justice and Peace National Tournament Coordinated by  Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) and Sports Connect Academy (SCA) , and a play which has been specifically scripted to capture the issues in the proposed constitution as well as the events during and after the post-election, radio drama and stage play to be staged at different venues of the country by Artists Forum International (AFI).

African Achievers Award International 2010

The African Achiever Awards aims to reward excellence among Africans on the continent and Africans in the Diaspora. The excellence displayed by Africans, no doubt, enhances the positive image of Africa and Africans.

Criterion

The criterion for African Achiever Award, broadly speaking, is to have contributed to the enhancement of the positive image of Africa and Africans in any part of the world. As simple as the criterion sounds, there are numerous people who satisfy this criterion which means that the best of Africa’s Best are matched against each other to produce a high quality list of African Achiever Awards Award recipients. The African Achiever Award is highly prestigious and highly coveted.

Eligibility

Submissions are welcome from any institution based in UK and Africa including corporate headquarters or branch offices of international institutions.

Entrants may submit for multiple awards. However, the shortlist for the following categories will be decided by an independent editorial board.

You can nominate yourself for an award or be nominated by someone else.

The awards celebrate African people who have:

• Shown innovation or creativity in their volunteering
• Demonstrated leadership in creating and developing projects
• Used their energy, commitment and enthusiasm to raise awareness
• Created something worth replicating elsewhere and inspired others
• Demonstrated a willingness to develop their talents into new areas
